Coffee Chat

I’ve got so many random thoughts floating around in my mind that I’ve wanted to share! So, it seemed like a good time for a coffee chat post! I love reading these from other bloggers – all the random life updates and musings that don’t seem to fit anywhere else. So, grab your drink of choice and settle in!

If we were having coffee today, I’d probably be pretty candid about feeling lost with blogging. It’s not that I don’t want to write here because I do. I’ve written sporadically over the last couple years and don’t really know where to start. I have a lot of ideas about this space and my coaching business moving forward, but it also feels in so many ways like starting over and it’s overwhelming. Between a lack of consistency and transferring everything to this new space, I lost of my audience. It’s hard to motivate myself to write when it feels like nobody is reading, but at the same time, I know that if I want to rebuild, then writing is exactly what I need to do. The numbers shouldn’t be important, but I’m trying to grow a business and traffic is a factor. So, just start. That’s where I’m at.

If we were having coffee today, I’d segue into how excited I am to have my first coaching client! About a month ago, a friend, and kind of relative, reached out about having me help her train for a half marathon. I had so much fun putting together a training plan! It really affirmed that this is a naturally extension of what I should do with my life. I am looking forward to helping her improve her fitness and reach her race day goals.

If we were having coffee today, I’d lament how summer seems to be flying! I’ve done a few fun things like a Cubs/Tigers game at Wrigley which was absolutely a dream come true! I don’t write about it much, but I’m a huge baseball fan and these are my two favorite teams. It’s a bucket list item to see a game at every MLB stadium, so this was the perfect game to cross Wrigley off the list. A couple weeks ago, I attended a Jerry Seinfeld comedy show. I have yet to make it out to Lake Michigan for a beach day or go stand up paddle boarding. I had grand plans about doing a lot of hiking and exploring some of the cool lakeshore towns like Charlevoix. Fortunately, there’s still over a month left over summer and I hope to make the most of it!

If we were having coffee today, I talk about how I’m excited for Amy Young’s Self-Love Trifecta course. I’ve followed Amy on Instagram for probably a year now and love her work. When she announced this four week course, I knew I needed to be a part. I am generally my own worst enemy and harshest critic, and man, can I be nasty. I am excited to do some deep inner work during the month of August and improve my relationship with myself. So many personal development type courses are so expensive that it’s never in the realm of possibility, so I appreciate that not only is this something I know I need, but it was budget friendly.

If we were having coffee today, I’d talk about all the books I’m reading – currently in the middle of eight! I’ve always been an avid reader, but since my grandma died, diving into a book didn’t have the same appeal. I read a few things, but nowhere near what I usually consume. But, I find myself loving getting lost in those pages once again. Eight may be a bit excessive, but I’ve always liked having my options. As a kid, I would often carry around several books so that when I finished one before I got home, I’d have a few to choose from for my next title. Hi, my name is Mindy and I was (am) a nerd.

If we were having coffee today, I’d talk about how excited I am to have some races on the calendar again! Although my summer fitness plans aren’t going quite the way I anticipated, I’m working to get ready for a six mile race at the end of August and a 5k in October. I wasn’t planning on the six miler, but it’s the inaugural year for this race that also includes a half and full marathon, and it sounded fun to take part. The 5k is my real goal as I am working hard to earn a significant PR. Looking ahead, there is potentially going to be an Ironman 70.3 in Traverse City next summer and I’m incredibly intrigued. It’s a far cry from my current fitness levels, but it doesn’t seem out of the realm of possibility with a year to prepare.

Your turn! What would you talk about if we were having coffee today? Leave comment and let me know.
