Hello, 2019!

Hello, 2019!

Hello, 2019! I don’t know about you, but I am so excited for the clean slate of a new year. I know it’s almost cliché at this point, but I don’t care as I love New Year’s Day and the hope of the year ahead. It’s exciting to set ambitious goals for the year and dream about what could be. I have a lot I want to share to recap 2018 and look ahead to 2019, especially my theme word and goals! For now, I wanted to pop in and say hello.

I am looking forward to more finding much more consistency in this space and getting back into a regular writing routine. In the latter days of 2018, I started to rediscover my voice. I finally started to believe in myself as a writer, a health coach, and a personal trainer. I want to use this passion and the lessons learned in personal journey to make the world a little better.

My plan was to spend the stretch between Christmas and New Year’s writing so much content. I wanted to be ready to publish throughout the first days and weeks of 2019. As the saying goes, we plan and God laughs. Instead, I came down with the stomach flu and hardly left my bed for almost a full week. I had about enough energy to sleep a lot and watch a few (yes, a few) seasons of How I Met Your Mother.

As I started to feel better, I even threw in a couple movies. In case you’re wondering, Bird Box was an experience, although I’m still not certain if that was good or bad (leaning toward bad and it’s two hours of my life I’ll never get back). Dumplin’ was cute albeit fairly predictable. Jennifer Aniston is in the cast and I adore her, so for that it was worth watching. Most importantly, I watched Taylor Swift’s Reputation Stadium Tour on Netflix. It made me so happy to relive the experience of that iconic tour in Detroit last August.

All that to say, the plan for a lot of writing over the last ten days fell to the wayside. For that matter, so did the reading, exercise, purging around the house, and everything else I was hoping for. Life happens and all of that stuff will still be there for me to tackle in the days ahead. Clearly my body needed the rest. I’m grateful that I got that sick in a season when I had the time to lay low without adding anxiety of what I wasn’t accomplishing. Okay, there was a little anxiety about it, but mostly there was sleep.

I had plans to go out on New Year’s Eve, complete with a cute new dress, but opted to stay home. Yesterday was the first day I felt remotely close to healthy. The thought of going out sounded exhausting and I had a feeling it wouldn’t be in my best interest. As excited as I was in the weeks leading up to the big night, hanging out on my couch in yoga pants with the cutest cat in the world curled up next to me wasn’t terrible either. Now, I need to find another excuse to break out my fancy outfit!

Until then, I’ve got some writing to catch up on and dreams to make a reality. Cheers to an incredible 2019!

Did you do anything special for the holidays or New Year’s Eve?
