May 2018 Goals
Hi, my name is Mindy and my usual Type A, goal oriented persona is failing lately. By lately, I mean for the last year. In hindsight, I’m honestly (mostly) okay with that. I last set some goals in March and didn’t really think about them again. Looking back, I actually completed two of them. For not really trying, that feels like a good accomplishment! Then, April came and I set no goals. As much as I thought I was in the right space to get back in that habit for the first few months of the year, it was quickly apparent that wasn’t true. Maybe it’s the sudden spring weather brightening my spirits or maybe, more likely, the gift of time, but I’ve got my head back in the game.
I’m only setting a few goals for this month. After a long stretch struggling with motivation, I want to set myself up for success and be able to cross them all off the list. While I only have a small handful of goals, they are fairly significant and will require determination and focus to achieve them.
May 2018 Goals
Finish Jillian Michaels’ BODYSHRED. As I write this, I only have 18 days left in the program, including rest days! I have had an on-again, off-again relationship with this program for the last couple years, sometimes sticking with it for two days and once for over two weeks. The fact that I’m almost halfway through week six of eight feels monumental. I am unbelievably proud of myself for sticking with it this time and can’t wait to share my results. I haven’t really seen changes on the scale, but my progress pictures are enough to keep me pushing play every day.
Complete an Ironman May. Caitlin (Healthy Tipping Point) did an Ironman April challenge back while she was still blogging. For whatever reason, I thought of it a couple weeks ago. I decided to take it on for May, which will be perfect as I have a sprint triathlon in June. The idea is to complete a full triathlon over the course of the month – swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles, and run 26.2 miles. If people can do that in a day, I can certainly do it in a month! I think it will put me in great shape for my triathlon.
1 minute (minimum) daily plank. I’m joining my friend Katie in this one. Remember when #plankaday was the trendy thing in the fitness Instagram circles? Let’s bring it back.
Finish the final Game of Thrones book. I’ve said this for months now and it still hasn’t happened. This is THE month. I’m going to do it.
Write daily. Whether that’s in this space or more personal thoughts in my journal, I want to get back in the habit of letting words flow. I’m a writer at heart and it’s a habit that I deeply neglected – and missed – over the last year.
