Training Tuesday: Week 2
I thought last week – the first full week back to reality after the holidays – would be the one to throw me off, but no. I am all out of sorts this week! This morning (Wednesday), I woke up this morning and thought it was Sunday, which makes no sense, and this post is going up a day late. But, I am working on getting back into routines and while it’s not going as well as I would like, it is going.
My activity levels were pretty sporadic throughout 2018, and 2017 if I’m being honest. I ended the year with an almost two-week long case of the stomach flu. As a result, I’m carefully working my way towards what will be an intense training schedule. I have some audacious goals for 2019 and I don’t want to injure myself starting out too hard. My goal for the second week of the year was at least four workouts.
Monday: yoga (sweet heat, 60 minutes). Oh, did it feel amazing to wind down the day with some stretching and restorative yoga! This was the second candlelight class I attended recently and I need to do it more often.
Tuesday: Orangetheory (60 minutes).
Wednesday: rest day.
Thursday: rest day.
Friday: Orangetheory (60 minutes). In truth, I don’t remember what we did (which is why I need to write these recaps in real time, not at the end of the week. But, my stats clearly show that this class kicked my butt! For those familiar with OTF lingo, I earned 48 splat points, 31 of which were in the red zone. I may have pushed myself a little too hard. At 636, it was my second highest calorie burn since I started OTF last July!
Saturday: a functional fitness day. I spent the morning at my mom’s helping with a lot of cleaning and purging. The result was a lot of carrying heavy bags out to the dumpster, lifting, climbing, and so forth. While not technically exercise, this is the kind of stuff that exercise helps us safely do on a regular basis. I know I burned some calories and felt good about it.
Sunday: 3.15 mile run/walk (12:38 pace).
